Chloe's Take: Almighty Buffalo Megaways plays it safe, and that’s both its strength and its weakness. As this is the US release of the UK title Buffalo Rising Megaways, it’s identical in every way. Although I found it too generic to return to, I genuinely enjoyed the Free Spins choice mechanic and the soundtrack.

Chloe's Take: The Free Spins choice is pretty much the only thing that elevated this one above a generic Megaways clone for me. Whenever I landed four or more scatters, I was allowed to make a meaningful decision: go with 15 spins and a multiplier that starts from scratch, split the difference with 10 spins and a 5x head start, or gamble on just 5 spins with a 10x multiplier already locked in. Though I never quite trusted the Mystery Choice option enough to pick it over a known quantity, it was a fun wildcard whenever I felt like letting the game decide.

Chloe's Take: The 96.5% RTP sits slightly above the industry benchmark, and the high volatility means that advantage shows up in occasional bigger wins rather than a steady stream of smaller ones. During my session, I experienced long stretches where nothing noteworthy happened, only for a series of cascades to suddenly snowball into something more exciting. The Free Spins choice helped here too, as being able to pick a higher starting multiplier gave me some control over how that volatility played out instead of leaving everything entirely to chance.

Chloe's Take: While the buffalo, bear, wolf, and moose portraits are easy to read at a glance, they also feel fairly generic compared to the detailed and stylized artwork I’ve seen in some other animal slots. Fortunately, the buffalo tops the paytable at 50x for six of a kind, which is a strong payout for a Megaways title, and I appreciated that it also pays out from two symbols. As for the card royals, they are purely functional and utterly forgettable. I also don’t understand why a pink diamond was used for the scatter symbol, as it has absolutely nothing to do with the wildlife theme.

Chloe's Take: The controls are straightforward, with the spin, autoplay, and stake buttons accessible from the main screen, while the paytable, game rules, and sound toggle are hidden away behind a hamburger menu. While I generally prefer interfaces that keep most controls on the main screen, at least I didn’t have to dig through any nested menus here.

However, I thought the drum- and woodwind-heavy soundtrack, with its steady tribal pulse punctuated by occasional Indigenous chants, not only fits the mood but also adds real atmosphere.

I started with a 5-credit bet, with the opening spin immediately producing a 20-credit return. The session then settled into a much slower rhythm, with several stretches of dead spins broken up by smaller wins. After around 50 spins, I decided to buy the 10 Free Spins bonus, starting with a 5x multiplier.

The multiplier climbed throughout the bonus and eventually reached an impressive 13x, creating plenty of anticipation for a big payout. However, despite the strong multiplier progression, the feature returned just 328 credits, which wasn't enough to recover the cost of the bonus and the losses from the base game.
